AWESOME GIFT BRACELET

This bracelet was a surprise gift from a lady that buys beads from me.  I told her I was going to post on my blog because I thought it was really cool.  The best part, all you beaders, is this was totally unexpected.  As beaders we sometimes loose focus on the fact that beadwork is just plain beautiful.  If you, like me, read the bead magazines (a/k/a Beading Bibles), you sometimes feel your work doesn't match up.  They have amazing stuff in those magazines, but you put your heart into your work, so when you give it to someone that goes with it.  Over the holidays think about sending someone something you have made.  Better yet, do it before the holidays or after when it is least expected.   Beading is a beautiful way to say things what words don't.  I thank this woman again for her gift!!!

UPDATE

A request was made for the Russian Spiral on a weekend....anyone interested before the holidays?

Also, there was interest for teaching this on Thursday, December 1 at 10:30 am.  If interested in this, contact me to book space.  Any needs for quick projects for holiday gifts?

Where Have I Been?

Geez, I have been pathetic!  So much going on.  I will have a few new posts tomorrow or the next day.  Stay tuned.

Please post or email what classes you want to prepare for the holidays?  We have a Russian Spiral class tomorrow night...Wednesday, November 30 at 7:00.

I am working on a few pieces to send to the art gallery in Hood River, Oregon.  The art show is themed "Trash to Treasure".  Anyone got any really cool ideas?  I will post what I have finished in a few days.  Would like opinions.  This is harder than I thought.

BEAD ECSTASY IS HERE!!!!

You saw the amazing place where Bead Ecstasy will be held, we now have the projects and the prices.

I opted for our first class to be a beginning beading class.  This beautiful "tennis" bracelet is one project that will be taught.  This bracelet would make a wonderful gift (after you have made several for yourself).

These earrings will be the second project for the day.  Utilizing the same basic right angle weave stitch as in the tennis bracelet, you will create these stunning earrings.  They are much nicer in person.  You can mix and match these two projects.

Details on the class:
This class will be held both on THURSDAY, October 27 10 am-4 pm and SATURDAY, October 29 10 am-4 pm.

Our first Bead Ecstasy session is being offered at an introductory price of $95.  Remember, this includes a wonderful lunch and a shoulder/chair massage.

Kits will be available also for a reduced price of $20 for both projects.  To reserve space send a post or email:  kimleahy@estherbeadwork.com.  Space is limited, so book early.  This promises to be a very nice beading day.

Beaders.....We have the Location!!!!!

Studio looking out to the veranda
The location for the Bead Ecstasy Class has been finalized.  Just a peak.....The two photos represent the studio where we will be working  beading, and the other photo is the veranda where you will be served a gourmet lunch poolside.  The setting is beautiful, quiet and at the same time so inviting.  I didn't want to leave when I went to take photos.  I wanted to sit down and bead the entire day.  The rest of the details will be forthcoming....stay tuned.
Can you think of a better lunch spot....

UP COMING CLASSES

We had a blast this weekend at the Intergalactic Bead Show in Pompano Beach.  Please keep checking this site for the new class schedule.  I almost have it complete...just need to finish a project so I can photograph it for the flyer.  Post any classes you wish to see and I will try to set them up.

Esther Beadwork would like to thank everyone that attended this show and supported us by buying beads or just stopping by and saying hello.  Feel free to post your bead supply wishes and we will try our best to get them.  The Tila beads FLEW off the table and the Delicas were a hit.  Plan to see more at the March show.

Finished Project

The blue is fabulous
And we have a finished Russian Leaf/Kumi lariate!! It is so much fun to see how each piece turns out different.  Keep watching...more samples to come.

This class was such a huge hit, we will be offering it again very soon.  Please post or send me an email if you wish to attend this class or desire more information.

GREAT JOB LADIES

I was amazed and thrilled that so many had their Kumihimo ropes almost completed...and with 3 weeks left to go!  Pretty impressive.  The Russian Leaves presented a bit more of a challenge, but everyone rose to the occasion...I learned a few things I need to work on.  As always, I learn more from my students than they do from me.

If you missed this month long class, post what you would like to spend some time learning.  This is a wonderful time for fellowship and sharing and just enjoying being around others with a passion (okay, maybe an obsession) like ours!!!

Kumihimo Class FUN!!

Hey, this is FUN.

This is relaxing....

We had tons of fun during the first session of the Kumi/Russian Leaf class.  Everyone looks serious, but there was lots of laughter, oohs and ahhs over the way the ropes were coming out and good old fashioned conversation. Everyone is excited about learning the Russian Leaves next week.  Stay in touch for more photos and updates.

Product Idea from ARTBEADS.COM

Make sure you get on Artbeads.com's mailing list.  They have some great sales and provide an excellent way to pick up small quantities of beads you do not use all the time or want to test.

While browsing their latest flyer I found some TOHO mixes they were selling in 8 gram bags for a few dollars.  These were really, really cool and some came with different sizes and shapes of beads in a color scheme.  They would be a great way to experiment with bead embroidery since they had different styles, colors and finishes all in one bag.  Oh, the best, if you spend $10 you get free shipping.  Check it out.

New Beadwork

I just finished this piece.  I would love to say I saw this in nature and recreated it, but truth is, I was absolutely motivated by the beautiful colors!  The colors in the yarn and floss I put in the Kumihimo rope totally inspired the rest of the necklace.  While browsing through some bead magazines I came upon a necklace that had the "tassles" on the ends.  Even though the magazine piece used them as accents, I saw  flowers and once switched colors, a flower was born....This is another way you can use the Kumi/Russian Leaf Class we are offering in September....

Month Long Class being offered

Esther Beadwork will be offering a month long class beginning THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 7:00 pm.   We will be making a necklace using Kumihimo for the necklace portion incorporating a variety of strings, yarns and beads.  You will learn how to make your own toggles and end caps as well as Russian leaves.  We will finish the class by learning how to put everything together.  Students should be relatively comfortable with Peyote stitch.

Cost is $90 for the month.  Each evening class will run from 1-3 hours depending on individual ability.  Be prepared to have homework also.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn 3-4 techniques/components, meet other beaders, discuss ideas, complete a beautiful necklace and just have fun.

RSVP by posting on this blog or emailing kimleahy@estherbeadwork.com or the old fashion way....call 561-271-4360 to register.  Space is very limited to give students the best instruction possible.

Another Project

No one can mix color better than Mother Nature. If you ever need color inspiration or have trouble mixing colors in your work, take a walk and see what mixes nature uses. Look close and you will find a huge array of colors. The rocks and dirt in these photos have several shades of grey, browns, even hints of orange.

Nature provided an excellent pallet in the making of this cuff. So, take a stroll in Nature's art room.

INSPIRATION

I am currently in the Pacific Northwest getting inspiration for new projects, ideas, classes, etc. This metal decoration was in a Renovation Store.

This bead was created using Diane Fitzgerald's Shapes book.
This is a great class....of course, I found her other shapes much more fun when making jewelry.

Keep coming back to see more ideas that I am working on.
